As we conclude our 10th season of Circles in the Sand, we’re brimming with gratitude and joy for another extraordinary summer of creating walking labyrinths on the shores of Bandon. It has been a season filled with wonder, connection, and a sense of shared purpose, and none of it would have been possible without our remarkable team. The unwavering dedication, high energy, and passion for this craft are reflected in every labyrinth we shape together.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all who volunteered their time to rake the intricate spaces between the designs. We had the pleasure of meeting people from all over the country who brought their enthusiasm to the sand. Your participation truly made this season unforgettable.
Walking a labyrinth becomes more than just a physical journey; it’s an inward exploration, a meditative practice that invites calm, presence, and a deeper connection to both self and surroundings. We are deeply honored to have the opportunity to create these artistic beach labyrinths, blending the serenity of a meditative journey with the beauty of interactive art. Each labyrinth we design on the shores of Bandon is more than just an intricate pattern in the sand—it’s a gift we offer to the public, a space where people can pause, reflect, and reconnect. The combination of art and meditation is a powerful one. It’s a reminder that beauty can be found in simplicity, and that peace can be discovered in movement.
Though the summer season has come to a close, there are still many ways to experience Circles in the Sand. Visit Old Town Bandon to enjoy the Port of Bandon Boardwalk Art Show, themed "Stunning Skies, Surf, Sand." A few Circles-inspired pieces are on display, and you can still vote for your favorite! Winners will be announced on Saturday, September 14, during the Cranberry Festival. For more details, check out the Port of Bandon website here.
Also, don’t miss our photography show, "Labyrinth Walks in Focus," which showcases the captivating work of our talented team photographer, Charlie Wollertz. This exhibit is currently on display at the Coos Art Museum through September 22. You might even find a way to bring a lasting piece of Circles home by purchasing one of the breathtaking photographs. More information can be found here.
Looking ahead, we are thrilled to announce that Circles in the Sand will be returning to Florence, Oregon, in October. This year, we’re offering two sunset labyrinth walks on Saturday, October 13, and Sunday, October 14, 2024. More details on this special event will be coming soon.
Lastly, our 2025 calendar is in the works and will be available for purchase on our website in October, along with the release of our 2025 Summer Season schedule.
Thank you all for being part of this journey with us. We look forward to seeing you on the sand again soon!
