Last night, the Coos Art Museum (CAM) hosted the much-anticipated opening reception for the Circles in the Sand photography exhibit, featuring the stunning work of Charlie Wollertz. The exhibit beautifully showcases the intricate labyrinths created on the beaches of Bandon, Oregon, with Wollertz's photographs capturing both full labyrinths and close-ups of the detailed sand art.
A unique highlight of the exhibit is a walkable labyrinth installed on the museum floor, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the labyrinth experience after viewing the photographs. This interactive element adds a special touch, inviting guests to connect more deeply with the art.
The Circles in the Sand exhibit is part of Coos Art Museum's 30th Maritime Art Exhibition, a celebration of maritime-themed art displayed on the first floor. This flagship exhibition features a juried selection of remarkable maritime artwork. Upstairs, along with the Circles in the Sand exhibit, is the Tides of Time exhibit, which showcases artifacts from the Charleston Marine Life Center and artwork from the Coos History Museum and CAM.
The show will run through September 22, 2024. CAM is located at 235 Anderson Ave in Coos Bay, Oregon. For more information, visit www.coosart.org.
