There is something quietly powerful about the act of walking a labyrinth. Unlike a maze, there are no dead ends, no wrong turns — just a single winding path that leads you inward and then back out again. This Saturday, May 2, that ancient practice takes on a global dimension, as thousands of people around the world participate in World Labyrinth Day.

A Rolling Wave of Peace

World Labyrinth Day is celebrated every year on the first Saturday in May. What makes it extraordinary is the invitation extended to participants everywhere: walk a labyrinth at 1:00 PM your local time. As the clock strikes one in each time zone, a living, rolling wave of mindful intention circles the globe. Peace, carried one step at a time, traveling westward with the sun.

This year, you can be part of that wave right here on the Oregon Coast.

Circles in the Sand Hosts a Local Walk

Bethe Patrick of Circles in the Sand will be hosting an indoor labyrinth walk this Saturday at The Overlook at The Inn at Face Rock (Best Western) in Bandon.

Here's what to expect:

  • Doors open: 12:30 PM

  • Intention setting: 12:55 PM

  • Walking begins: 1:00 PM

The brief intention-setting before the walk is an opportunity to arrive fully and to settle your mind, set a personal intention, and join with others in holding space for something larger than any one of us.

Everyone Is Welcome

Can't walk the labyrinth? No worries. Finger labyrinths will be available for anyone who would like to participate in a more accessible way. Tracing the path with your fingertip is a genuine and meaningful practice in its own right and the same single winding way, the same arrival at the center, the same return.

Whether you walk, roll, or trace, you'll be part of that global wave at 1:00 PM.
